小組接獲過磅員報告稱跑第三名的「鄉村小子」之騎師高雅志未能達到該駒正確的磅重126磅之後押後宣佈覆磅完畢。

小組認為應該根據賽事規例第117(2)條就有關事件舉行抗議研訊正式處理。小組聆取了高雅志及「鄉村小子」的練馬師葉楚航的證供。兩人均接納，高雅志過磅時造磅為126磅，而賽後覆磅為124.9磅。賽事規例第113(3)規定，假如騎師未能達到正確磅重，可以容許他有一磅之差，但若騎師仍未能達到該磅重，其馬匹可因遭抗議，且抗議獲判得直，而被取消該場賽事的資格。

小組裁定抗議得直，並根據賽事規例有關條文取消「鄉村小子」的第三名資格。修訂的名次為第一名「霹靂子彈」（11號）、第二名「大隊長」（10號）、第三名「招財名駒」（14號）以及第四名「魯班精神」（3號）。

在其後的研訊中，高雅志承認違反賽事規例第113(3)條，事緣他在賽後未能達到正確磅重。他解釋，覆磅後他曾使用過洗手間，並且換過濕的馬褲。

他又說，他過磅時所攜的馬具在覆磅時均齊全。由於此項違規，高雅志被判罰停賽（五個香港賽馬日）直至十二月十一日星期四才可再次出賽。此項停賽罰則押後至十一月二十三日星期日沙田賽事後執行。
