香港賽馬會很高興宣佈，歐洲馬王「狄倫」有意角逐2007年國泰航空香港瓶。

「狄倫」現正在日本白井檢疫中心接受隔離。此駒昨日的樣本測試結果顯示，對馬病毒性動脈炎呈陽性反應，因而被迫退出週日舉行的日本盃。

「狄倫」上月在美國角逐育馬者盃草地大賽前，曾接受馬病毒性動脈炎防疫注射，因而出現陽性測試結果。

然而，對馬病毒性動脈炎呈陽性反應的賽駒，均不可在日本出賽，即使這是由接受防疫注射引起的反應亦不能豁免。

馬病毒性動脈炎疫苗，很大程度上與馬匹流感疫苗相似，兩者都是透過刺激而產生有關疾病的抗體，從而避免馬匹感染該種疾病。

香港現行的進口條例並無要求馬匹須接受馬病毒性動脈炎測試，因為在沒有育馬業的地區，經由海外馬匹傳入馬病毒性動脈炎的風險極低。

香港賽馬會獲悉「狄倫」將不能角逐日本盃後，立即嘗試邀請這匹六項一級賽冠軍參與國泰航空香港國際賽事。

「狄倫」的練馬師岳伯仁說：「未能角逐日本盃令人失望，但我們很高興，香港賽馬會邀請『狄倫』出征香港。雖然目前仍有一些問題尚待解決，但假如獲得有關檢疫部門批准，我們打算讓牠出爭國泰航空香港瓶。」

關於檢疫規例方面，馬會獸醫事務主管（賽事管制及國際聯絡）施卓華醫生解釋說：「安排讓『狄倫』來港出賽的協商十分複雜，目前仍在進行當中，但我們希望能達成協議，既可讓『狄倫』來港出賽，又可保障本港馬匹的健康。」

馬會賽馬事務執行總監利達賢歡迎這項安排，他說：「『狄倫』有機會來港角逐國泰航空香港瓶，將會令國泰航空香港國際賽事生色不少。『狄倫』是英皇錦標、凱旋門大賽及愛爾蘭冠軍錦標三料冠軍，若牠能參與香港國際賽事，將會進一步鞏固世界草地錦標大賽的地位。」
