「星運爵士」榮休 週日沙田馬場歡送

二○○八年一月四日

在前年12月摘下國泰航空香港一哩錦標，為香港國際馬匹拍賣會馬匹勝出國際一級賽首開先河的「星運爵士」，已按照原定計劃，於上月進行衛冕戰之後，宣佈退役。馬會定於本週日（1月6日）在沙田馬場於第五場賽後，為這匹名駒舉行退休歡送儀式。

無論所勝賽事的級數或獎金，「星運爵士」在香港國際馬匹拍賣會歷來售出的馬匹當中都堪稱首屈一指。牠在2001年售出時，成交價僅為一百六十萬元。及至最近退役時，所得獎金累積超過三千一百萬元，服役以來先後跑獲10冠13亞9季。

馬會賽馬事務執行總監利達賢認為，「星運爵士」的傑出成就，令香港國際馬匹拍賣會在國際純種馬市場的地位更形重要。他說：「這匹佳駟的劃時代成就，進一步提升了我們的馬匹拍賣會之國際聲譽。」

「星運爵士」具有香港人所有的百折不撓、勇往直前的精神。牠一而再地向國際一級賽的獎座衝擊， 2004年在國泰航空香港一哩錦標獲得季軍，2005年再接再厲晉身亞軍，2006年終於大功告成，時年已七歲。

「多年來，牠與眾多海外頂尖一哩馬交鋒而一再交出優秀的表現，充分證明了自己的實力達到國際一級，亦為香港爭得榮耀。」利達賢續道。

這匹「丹山」之子在方嘉柏的訓練下，成為世界前列賽駒，於2007年8月公佈的2006/07年度世界馬匹排名榜上名列二十六，國際評分為117分（一哩組別）。

現已八歲的「星運爵士」，即將移居紐西蘭安享退休生活。

上年度馬季冠軍練馬師方嘉柏對這匹替其帶來從練首項國際一級賽錦標的棗色閹馬依依不捨：「牠是我訓練過的馬匹之中最出色的一駒，帶給我很多樂趣與快樂時光。『星運爵士』性格優良，鬥志頑強，陣上永不言敗。離別後，我必定會很惦記牠！」
