Author: Harry (Raels)
Subject: About me =D

To me, the most important string which ties together a group of people is intimacy. When we get to know each other so well we can call each other friends without blinking an eye, then our guild can never fail =)

My name is Harry, not Harrold or Harvey or Hank, sometimes Harpy, but never to my face =D
I currently live at UC Santa Cruz, California, and i am a music major, focusing on voice. I've played the piano for i suppose 14 years now... and by this point you must be wondering why i play a necromancer and not a bard!
Although i have love for music, i have a deep fascination with the undead -- something which i have yet to encounter mind you.. =D

My character Raels is now 26, i started a week after the game came out, and took many breaks =)

-History/Background
Born a very pretty gnome in Ak'anon, life was beautiful. I had a loving father, and a peaceful mother. I was the youngest of 3, an older brother and an older sister. We were mainly farmers, to help support our mechanized city, but my father was more adventurous. He would often be off for months at a time, leaving the farm to us, and of course our worker robots =)
On my 40th birthday, much celebrated in our city (much like the human's sweet 16) my father wanted to take my family to Misty Thicket, for i had always loved the jovial hobbits. Unfortunately, we did not even reach kaladim, for on our journey we were waylaid by half-elf bandits. I was still quite young and unskilled in many things, though my mother knew a little healing magic. However we were no match for them. My father fell one himself, but the rest swarmed us. Being young i was also quick, and as my father yelled for me to run, my quick feet took me many paces.. but the screaming of my mother stopped me short. I looked with utter horror as my family lay bleeding and dying. I screamed out to the gods for help, and only one answered. Loathsome Bertoxxulous was quick to answer my plea. His silver-tongue convinced me that by selling my soul to him, i can live with my family forever. Seeing my family there, i had no other choice.
A bright flash of light hit me, my eyes began to bleed, and the utter fear i felt -- that of seeing ghosts, and hearing the dead talk to me -- set part of my hair white.

When the bandits finished looting the corpses, the plaguebringer taught me the words to place the spirits of my family back in the broken corpses. I muttered the words, flicked my hands, and a putrid green sphere enveloped my slain family. I heard laughing, distant, evil... i was horrified when i realized the laughter was emanating through me. I saw my family rise, slowly, their flesh hanging off them, their tongues lolling out, eyes rolled back into their skulls. Boils consumed their bodies; they moaned with a sadness i had never heard. Yes, i got my wish. For the rest of my life, and my death, i would have to serve the plaguebringer as my lord.

With each passing year, and with each bidding my lord forced upon me, i grew tired. I of course tried to resist in the beginning, though i learned quickly that the more i resisted, the easier it was for him to control me. Being constantly surrounded by plague and disease, its muck slowly seeped into my very being. After a while, starring in the eyes of a plague rat, its partly decayed face, and its sickening green coat of rotted fur, i finally saw the tremendous beauty plagues can create. The deep, kingly purple of a fresh bruise made me blush with happiness. The spoiling of blood on a knife, as it sours into a rusty brown... i would stare at such things for hours, entranced, beguiled by its aroma.. its taste.

As i reached adulthood, time and time again had proven that my views were misbegotten. People shunned me, and for a time i shunned them for their ignorance and prejudice. I hated the world, and its intolerance for people with different beliefs. But with adulthood came maturity, in my soul as well as my mind. A sense of peace finally enveloped my being, for i knew that kindness and plague could be fellow travelers.
