Subject: One kick-ass week

I went to San Francisco last week, on tuesday or somethin. Went to a thrift store there, Jeremy's. There's one in Berkely too, which I think is probably better. Anyway, the one in San Francisco SUCKED! It was a bunch of suits and slacks and crap. So I was sittin all dejectedly on these old turqoise theater seats they had there, and I noticed this skiff leaning up against the wall which they had converted into a shoe shelf. And lo and behold, amongst the shiny dress shoes was a boot. A brown boot. I don't really like brown. I took a glance at it and disgustedly put it back. I sat there for a while, listening to the O Brother Where Art Thou soundtrack they were playing. Something about that boot was bothering me. Holy fuck! I jumped up, grabbed the boot, and took another look at it. "That's a nice boot," I thought. The sides are dark brown and the front part tan. Off-white stitching runs up the heel and across the sides. I had solved my boot problem!
Later on that day, we went to Ikea to look for furniture. My parents promised me a bed two birthdays ago and we had been looking for a while, so I wasn't really expecting to find anything. But, I came across the perfect bed. It was as simple as that. It is kinda asian-lookin. It comes as unfinished wood but I am staining it reddish-orange. It has black bars running vertically on the headboard and no footboard. It's perfect! They also had matching bedside tables, and since everything was so cheap, we bought two! To go with the tables, we found two paper lamps, off-white and shaped a little like wine bottles, although crooked and wider at the bottom. My room is gonna rock!
They called me a couple days later, at 8:30 in the morning. It was a good thing I was awake! My mom answered and said it was for me. And who was it other than Monica Huggins! Yes, it was the assistant director of admissions for St. John's. With some good news. Very good news. Yep, I'm heading off to Sante Fe next year! Fucking scary huh? I think so anyway. They sent me an official letter yesterday; it was nice to see in writing.
So, that was my wonderful week. We went to Napa too, but that was kinda boring. Hope you all are doing fine everywhere!

Hyper and happy, Martin

P.S. Happy birthday, Paul!
Also, if you haven't yet listened to Blind Guardian, Kate, give it a try, it's awesome!
