Subject: Unconditional Love/Conditional Love: A Treatise

I am a man who has had the good fortune to know and be able to give love. Most of us have had good parents who love us, and when I say love us, I mean unconditionally. A parent does not say, "If you do not act in a certain way, you shall no longer have my love." If they do, then it is my opinion that this is not love at all.

Love is about treasuring another person's existence beside your own. It means that we always want our loved ones to be happy, no matter how bad they might be. It means, in many ways, that we cannot help but love them, for love does not ask questions, it does not fear, and it does not make demands. There is no shame or pride in love.

Yet, when I think of the Christian god, a god supposedly of love, all I see is a vengeful father figure who threatens to send you into oblivion, outside the presence of his love, if we do wrong. Is this love, my friends? Ask yourselves if you would expect your own mother to do this. Ask yourselves whether your Christian god loved you more than your own mother. I tell you that I have gotten better love from even the worst of my lovers. I have gotten better love from my parents, my truest friends, and my wife. And, I would like to think that I have given better love.

Love is about acceptance. If a man and woman love each other, they do not expect the other to change. They love them for who they are.

When a man puts himself into a belief that he is never going to amount to a hill of beans, then he makes himself a loathsome creature, indeed. When a man strives always to better himself, with no hope of doing so, he will live a life of total and utter discontentment. For what is contentment if it is not being happy with the way we are right now?

What creating, loving god, my friends, who knows all and can do all, would consign his own loves to eternal torment before ever creating them? Would we invent our perfect woman/man, create him/her to be a receptacle for our love and to glorify us only to know that later we would have to consign them to the hellfires because they turned out less than our vision?

Would a loving, perfect god not have created us to be perfect and loving? I tell you, with every fault of our existence which we choose to heap upon ourselves, we heap upon our Creator also, for nothing that exists on this earth was not known or created by him. Let god take responsibility for his own actions then. Instead of sending his own Son to perish for his screw ups, let him hang upon the tree for his own sins. I know my father would do this. I know that my father loves me enough to burn eternally for me, were the question put to him. And for this very reason, I too would suffer greatly for him in return.

No, the Christian god is not a loving god, good people. He is a coward. He hides behind his a veil of perfection that is no veil at all. He sends others to pay for his own misconducts. He is vengeful and furious with us because most of all he hates himself.

Love is truly the greatest force that I know of, yet I have more of it than he. My friends, my parents, and my lovers have more of it than ever I have witnessed by the deeds of my loving god. To hell with HIM. May he burn for a coward and a traitor to love. May he pay for his own thousands of years of misconducts which he blames upon us, but shares greatly in the responsibility. I will stand accused, if need be. I shall meet my maker proudly. And if he should damn me, then I will spit in his face for he is a loathsome worm that despises life and himself, that knows nothing of love or forgiveness. He is a liar and a fiend. Better to burn than to serve anyone so vile.
