It is hard to respect stupidity. It is easier to dismiss it with a "Pphh" and a wave of laughter. Believing we are tempted by devils and that a God sits above us ready to kill us if we don't bribe him is stupid. "Let's mollify God," smacks of sacrificing virgins to volcanos to mollify the god of fire. God will visit hideous dooms upon us if we do not agree to his terms... Ugh. God has doomed all of man because one man ate an apple. (there is a story writer's maxim that an author should not introduce a prop unless it will play a part in the story. The apple was introduced because it was intended to be eaten.)

I noticed you want to take pot-shots at Karmic ideas. Fine. Karma is this: If you do something, there will be consequences, and those consequences are your responsibility - not the responsibility of God or of the devil. Yours and yours alone.

I think the above is self-evident, following the idea of cause and effect. If you want to show me where that is a stupid idea, go for it. I will stop believing that there are consequences for my actions if you can prove that such a belief is obviously foolish and wrong.
