Many of Howard's stories deal with past lives and the ability to re-experience those past lives. I have not read a lot of his letters, so I cannot be sure, but I suspect he either believed in reincarnation, or was at least enthralled by the possibility of reincarnation (not really believing, but thinking, 'gee, that would be nice if it were true').

I am not sure if he was religious at all, to be honest. I never looked into his church-going habits, or lack thereof. Considering the reclusive lifestyle he kept, I doubt he attended any sort of regular service, but I don't have any facts to support that supposition.

Most of his stories, including his Conan stories, do tend to indicate a lack of belief in real gods and a lack of trust in priests. But these may just be stories, or his opinion of heathen religions and not a comment on the Christian religion.
