The strong are strong and they have no real need to restrain or limit themselves. It is a choice they make and nothing more. I am not saying that this is something we should work towards. I am only saying that the old adage "It is harder for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven than for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle," is true. Though it is not true for the reasons some believe. What the adage really says is that rich men have no need of the same moral governances that the poor cling to, and here is the reason why: The poor have nothing, so they compensate by making themselves morally "richer" in hopes that it will gain them something in the hereafter. The rich man cares little for the hereafter because his life is so good now. Why should he do anything according to some writ or code or commandment? What will it gain him? Nothing. What does it gain the poor man? Hope. But, really, what is hope?
