by scary I was not meaning literally "Scary" as in you'd better cower in fear every time a jetliner flys over. I met scary in a more generic sense - scary as in there is still a need to keep your guard up.

Really, I have not let terrorism interfere with my travel plans (2 plane flights) or activities - I have been to 5 of the 8 largest publicly attended sports activities in the WORLD since 9/11: Indy 500 2002, '03, '04 and Brickyard 400 2002 and 2003. (the other 3 are the Formula One race at Indianapolis and I don't care much for Formula One).

As for the additional info - apparently there have been men of "Middle Eastern descent" caught with bomb components on board planes. Not an entire bomb, mind you but just a piece of a bomb - small enough to smuggle on and possessing it by itself not really a criminal act . The theory is that they are practicing sneaking aboard components and then a group of terrorists would be planning on boarding with each component piece and then assembling the bomb on the plane.
