I must say that the second movie was far better than the first. I really enjoyed it, and for the most part, the parts they changed didn't bother me all that much. Among the things that bothered me: Faramir being a little weasely. Theodin was portrayed as being too defeatist, but he made up for it with his charge... :) (incidentally, Theodin has always been one of my favorite characters from the books...) The only other thing that really bothered me was Sam's "Star Trek Next Generation" soliloquy at the end. I don't understand why he had to talk so much about what it meant to be a hero. Isn't the movie about heroes? I also did not appreciate the "Is Aragorn dead?" This plot device is way over-used. But, I forgave them. The movie was quite good. I thought that the pacing was far better and the characters were given more detail and life. I got a little tired of the dwarf jokes, but forgave them that, too! All in all the movie was very well done.
