You guys had to know that I would pop back in when discussion on this topic surfaced. But, I promise not to be inflamatory, only to shed light on the topic.

First, Sunday school actually starts as early as birth in many churches. Part of my job description is to order curriculum for our Christian Ed program, and our church orders for the "Toddler" age group (18month - 3years). Isn't indoctrination wonderful!?

Second, the Bible is one of the most graphic, violent books of all time. There are the sweet little bible stories about Noah, and the animals coming on by twosies, twosies (as my 3 year old sings), and then it rainsies, rainsies, and then...he gets drunk and gets naked! Or, how about the guy who was having sex with his dead brothers widow (because by law he had to give his brother an heir), but, he doesn't want to get her pregnant, so he drops his load on the ground. Or, the King who kills a man to get his wife. Or, the entire book of Song of Solomon is basically soft porn.

So, why are these stories in the Bible? They're real people going through real problems. And, I better stop there or Adilbrand may delete my message for religious content. I love a socialist forum.

As for the baby in Satan's arms in the movie. Well, I'm in my second year of a Masters program in Theology and...well, I have no clue. Gibson's poetic license I suppose. I was intrigued at the supernatural element within the movie. Satan was portrayed as an angel of light, not a red horned monster with a pitch fork. The demons tormenting Judas was pretty powerful. It has to represent something, if anyone else comes across a logical explanation, I would love to hear it.

Finally, there were no hallelujahs in the theater when I saw The Passion. We all walked out in complete silence. I personally did not know how to react. I wanted to fall on my knees and beg forgiveness for not being worthy (I'm sure you guys will love that comment) of Christ's sacrifice for me. And, I wanted to stand and praise Him because He is risen. (I wish Gibson would have done more with the Resurrection scene.)
