I do find it interesting that people wear crosses. I suppose we would have a small noose charm, or pot, or other death device to proudly display and you would hear the chant.."Take up your noose!"

The questions many of you are raising in the part of the thread are at the heart of Christianity. (I'll do my best to stay on the correct side of the line. This is not a post to evangelize this forum, simply to make a statement.)

Why does God require a blood sacrifice? I could enter into a theological discourse of sin and redemption, but, the bottom line is going to be I don't know. I am just thankful that He sent someone to make that sacrifice for me. (By the way, MVD, that is postmodernism! I am perfectly okay with both the mystery and the tension of God.)

The truth is, I don't think you guys really care why God requires a sacrifice. Gibson's portrayal of Christ's sacrifice was to bring home one point...He died for you! Accept it or not, we are all responsible for it. And, no, "I didn't ask Him to die for me," doesn't cut it.
