Subject: It isn't always just Microsoft.....

You may be surprised, and I'm sure many a unix geek will deny this. But, there are viruses (virii?) out there that affect unix boxes also.

As for upgrades and patches, security holes and whatnot, unix has them too. I remember our old Solaris servers coming down more often due to the numerous fixes and updates that needed to be done.

One note, when you install unix or linux, it is more secure than windows. Why? Because they usually turn off their daemons (running programs/processes) that could lead to a compromise. Down side, you don't get much access for quite a bit of their functionality. If anyone wants some documentation on this, I can give them a link on the security vulnerablities of quite a few linux OS's written for the unix community by the unix community.

Learning from this, Microsoft has done the same with their Windows 2003 server.

Maybe the conspiracy is against all consumers. Who knows.
