(With tongue firmly in cheek..)

I'm worried about you, MVD -

You have made two comments about things that you hear that really, really bother you:

"Please, make it a large dose and pour it in my ears so I don't have to listen to these flaming fairies."(7/1/03)

"I just get sick of people saying, "Let us pray." and then having to listen to their sorry platitudes..." (6/17/03)

Are you Okay? Perhaps you have an earache and all sound bothers you?

Seriously, though - all Def Leppard songs are not mindless crap, but sure the lyrics of almost any song is pretty silly. Metal Songs are really just pop songs with A LOT of guitar. No better, no worse, lyrics-wise than N-Sync, Michael Jackson or the Four Tops.

OK - give this lyric a break - you have totally misrepresented the last part of the line - the part that burns is love, not a flame. ' "Love's like a flame, it burns you when it's hot" ? Things burn you when they're hot? Wow! I didn't know! ' - MVD

Pretty much the same sentiment as the one in this CLASSIC song (except much more succintly):

Ring Of Fire
Written by June Carter and Merle Kilgore
Recorded by Johnny Cash on 3/25/63
Number one - County Chart; Number 17 - Pop Chart

----------------------------------------------------------

Love Is A Burning Thing
And It Makes A Fiery Ring
Bound By Wild Desire
I Fell Into A Ring Of Fire

CHORUS:
I Fell Into A Burning Ring Of Fire
I Went Down, Down, Down
And The Flames Went Higher

And It Burns, Burns, Burns
The Ring Of Fire
The Ring Of Fire

I Fell Into A Burning Ring Of Fire
I Went Down, Down, Down
And The Flames Went Higher

And It Burns, Burns, Burns
The Ring Of Fire
The Ring Of Fire

The Taste Of Love Is Sweet
When Hearts Like Ours Meet
I Fell For You Like A Child
Oh, But The Fire Went Wild

CHORUS
I Fell Into A Burning Ring Of Fire
I Went Down, Down, Down
And The Flames Went Higher

And It Burns, Burns, Burns
The Ring Of Fire
The Ring Of Fire

I Fell Into A Burning Ring Of Fire
I Went Down, Down, Down
And The Flames Went Higher

And It Burns, Burns, Burns
The Ring Of Fire
The Ring Of Fire

And It Burns, Burns, Burns

The Ring Of Fire

The Ring Of Fire

I do believe, however, that you are confusing Def Leppard with a lot of the "Hair Bands". Motley Crue and Poison were the "Glam" bands - make up and hair and all of the goofy outfits. Really they were stealing their look from both KISS (the ultimate in makeup) and Def Leppard (Regular guys - Def Leppard usually looked a lot like a Country music act - flannel shirts, t-shirts and jeans and stole their sound from Def Leppard. So Motley Crue and Poison wore makeup and jeans and flannel. Bon Jovi consisted of the pretty boys. Dee Snider ("We're not gonna take it", "I wanna rock"), whom Abba's Son mentioned just look like a wierdo - more like Boy George than anyone else.

This song is from the same album as "Photograph", called "Pyromania". It's not a mindless pop song, but, of course, being a song it does not flow as well as an essay or a book. It is a powerful song with the music, as I'm sure Adilbrand would attest. Post-Traumatic stress from war...

DEF LEPPARD LYRICS

"Die Hard The Hunter"

Shotgun
Let's welcome home the soldier boy from (Far away, far away)
No angel of mercy just a need to destroy (Fire away, fire away)
Let's toast the hero with blood in his eyes
The scars on his mind took so many lives
Die Hard the Hunter

Welcome home soldier boy
Put down your pistol, yeah, put down your toy
Yeah, they can take your gun away from you
But never take away your attitude
They can't do that, no, they can't do that

You got no enemy, no front line
The only battles in the back of your mind
You don't know how to change from bad to good
You brought the war to your neighbourhood

Back in the city, he's a man on the loose
He is the shadow that's following you
He takes no prisoners when he's hunting for game
He's got a bullet and it carries your name

(Die hard) Caught in a trap
(Hunter) There's no lookin' back
(Die hard) He hides in the crowd
(Hunter) Die Hard and Proud
