Though both apple and one IBM-PC compatible latptop company (not a major company) both have a 17" laptop variety. Apple is about $3000+ and this other was about $4000 (This is 6 months ago that I looked into this).

The myth that some laptops are not upgradeable is slowly becoming false. I'm not talking about USB and FireWire. There are a few that you can expand memory, processor, harddrive, sound card....Though this is rare/expensive once again.
