Subject: Doctor Who at 40!

Yes, yes, yes. I know. I like Doctor Who more than it probably deserves. It is my favorite TV show of all time. It is crazy fun, and it is part of the reason I like it.

Yet, I thought I would say -- this Sunday is the 40th anniversay of Doctor Who!

It is hard to believe, since I remember when it turned 30 and I was in Chicago. Where did all the years go?

I just ordered the 40th anniversary story (Big Finish) from England. Normally I buy it from WWW.WhoNA.Com but I decided to buy it from England. For $5.00 more I get it signed by Paul McGann. He did a great job as the Doctor in the TV Movie (which was the only highlight, imo, of the movie -- his performance). He is great as the Doctor, and his audio stories have proved that. (So far, there has been 11 audio stories if one includes Shada, and there is a 1 small DW Magazine 30 min story released this month, the 40th Anniversay story Zagreus, and 4 more after). He is a fun Doctor to listen to -- I like his personality a lot, not my favorite Doctor, but still I think a great Doctor.

Now the 9th Doctor story is being broadcast no BBCI and 2005 is the return of Doctor Who on television things MIGHT be back to normal soon. The current news is 8 - 12 hour long episodes for the next season of Doctor Who on television.. so it looks like we will get a "full season" worth soon. I just hope the return is as good as the original.

Until then, the DW Audio stories.. which I have mentioned before.. are great.

I think Aldibrand should listen to a few, if he can -- I know a few he would like if he could.

5th Doctor: Loups Garoux (great were-wolf story!) and Spare Parts (one of the best Doctor Who stories, IMO, about the origin of the Cybermen).

6th Doctor: Project Twilight (Vampire story.. very well done). Project Lazarus its sequel, imo is _ok_ just not great.

8th Doctor: Great Doctor, though his best stories imo are from his "second season." His first story is good, not great, but necessary since his stories from an ARC based upon the first story (Storm Warning). His best story so far: Chimes of Midnight. But Neverland his last story (cliff-hanger) is interesting and leads to the 40th anniversary story...

Anyway -- Aldibrand, we still need to try to get together sometime. I will be in Indiana for a couple weeks in December/Early January. Maybe something then?
