Sure - military life is rough on everyone - mom, dad, kids, relatives and friends that step in and give a hand. No doubt about it. Why make it harder with Adilbrand's idea?

Little kids may not "mind" missing mom or dad but that bonding is awfully important. At any age it is important! And, you can't raise your kids when you're on marriage contract #4 and have started family #3 with the newest wife and you see the original kids every other weekend and two weeks during the summer. Men especially (but not excuslively) are bad about forgetting about their "old" family when they get divorced, remarried and have kids with the new wife.

RE: Supporting the troops - at least during this war the troops are not being attacked for fighting in the war, as they were during Vietnam (witness a current Presidential candidate's testimony before Congress during the Vietnam War). Maybe the slogan should be - don't express your frustrations at the poor guys who are schlepping through the desert and sailing the seas! But, that's too big for a bumper sticker.
