In my mind it is the proverbial slippery slope...government should not be dictating to churches.

My branch of the Lutheran church (Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod) had an issue a few years ago - it was sued by muslims who claimed they were the most qualified for a job at a church-owned radio station - one that taped all of the stuff that is broadcast for the country, such as the "Lutheran Hour' (ironically, only a half-hour) but not hired due to religious reasons. Admittedly true, but understandably so.

The judge ruled the job could have been done by any person of any religion. True enoug, but then again, this was part of the process of prosthelyzation. The church argued that following the judge's logic, a Rabbi could demand to be appointed to fill the position of Baptist minister. After all, he is used to public speaking and public ceremonies. He can learn the communion and baptism stuff. So, in the end, the stations were sold rather than be dictated to.
