Subject: Yogacara Christology

Just thought I would provide a brief update on my thesis work.

Was it over a year ago that I mentioned I would be doing a Christology influenced by Yogacara Buddhist philosophy? Well, it has been -- and continues to go-- well. Last summer, I wrote the first part of the work, which was an examination of the problems and contradictions that is contained within traditional Chalcedonian Christology. I have to edit it from my advisor's remarks, but it went well.

Part II I wrote in the fall -- it is an exposition of what Yogacara Buddhism is, what it teaches, and how it came about in Buddhist history. It was a difficult work to write, but I have had people read it and give it (in its unedited form) great reviews.

Part III I am writing now, and I hope to have it done by the end of the month. I am 24 pages (single spaced) into it, and maybe 1/2 way through it maybe less than 1/2. It's going well, and I am coming up with insights I didn't expect but fit and work. It shall be interesting to see the reactions.

One appendix I plan to write, 1st week in march, is a brief discussion on reincarnation. Maybe 10 pages maximum -- only a brief survey, to wet my appetite on the kind of work I want to do sometime.

So-- the length (in single spaced pages) is about 28 pages for Part I, 48 for Part II, ? for Part III and 5 for Appendix 1 so far.

Way beyond call of duty but I think it is worthwhile!
