MVD: Why do you go to seminars?

Do a google search on the Jesus Seminar. It WAS a group of bible scholars who met and discussed and published in the mid-1980s. It was well-publicized (Cover of Newsweek, Time, US News & World Report) for their sometimes controversial conclusions and they've been the source material for the spate of recent PBS documentaries on Christianity. You can find out the rest on your own.

MVD: It seems to me (and I admit this is just my own understanding of the world) that the man who talks much about his faith, proclaims it to others and debates is a man whose faith is exceedingly weak. Men who are strong in their beliefs have no need of investigation nor debate. They simply know. If my understanding is correct, then you have no faith whatsoever in anything you say.

What a riot!!!!! Who makes more proclamations on his beliefs than anyone else here? Who has a special link on this forum to his long essay on his beliefs about religion?

Here's my favorite part:

Now - don't get me wrong - as far as I'm concerned that is exactly what a forum such as Vince's is for. Post your beliefs. Say whatever outrageous thing crosses your mind. Let him post what contradicts you. Good, I say! You contradict me. Good! To have it all one way or the other is to have the Taliban.

Here's what I say:

MVD - keep writing what you believe. I think half of it is crap, and half of it isn't but who gives a shit what I think?

Me - I'll keep posting book reviews that no one reads and I'll occasionally stick a pin in MVD's bubble and fully expect him to do the same to me. It keeps you honest and humble to have your ideas challenged.
