This is the latest in the popular Chee and Leaphorn series of mysteries, featuring the two police officers and their adventures as memebers of the Navajo Tribal Police.

I am a huge fan of this series, but I must say that I was pretty disappointed with this installment. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed catching up with the characters but the story itself was pretty weak. Unlike most of his mysteries, in which you follow the detectives as they assemble the clues and piece together the case, in this book you know exactly who the bad guys are from the beginning and you just ride along until the climax of the book, an even you see coming about 50 pages (this might be all right in a longer book, but this book only has 228 pages!) before it arrives, and it happens just about they way you thought it would.

I heartily endorse this series, but not this book. I give it a "C-", and only because it allows the reader to catch up with old friends.
