It's a sad life.
Everyone needs something to believe in. I know some who put their faith into Patriotism to their country. To the point that it is their religion.
When the chips are down, those people who have nothing to believe in, have a hard time. I have known a few. One eventually grabbed something to believe in because he needed something, anything. The other committed suicide.
