Actually I am one of the few Christians you will meet who sometimes (often) feels like the Bible is more a liability than an asset. Especially with the kinds of claims given to it, it really annoys me. Probably no surprise here, especially with the kinds of view I have already given.
I'm certainly more the philosopher than anything else, and the Bible is poor for philosophy. It's also really poor for theology. It's good as a record of the experiences of several different authors, how they felt about events, interpreted them, understood history... which with any such records (like diaries) has elements that can be useful and inspirational... but for theology.. I prefer a philosophical base.
