Am I pre-disposed to disliking the book? No, of course not. But, to be honest, since the book has been built up by you and multiple others, it had better live up to some of its hype or I'm going to have a letdown and be unhappy w/it (think how you felt after seeing Star Wars Ep. 1 after all the hype it received)

I was very critical of 3 books that I wrote about for basically this reason. "On the Road" by Jack Kerouac really disappointed me after a very strong start and did not live up to its reputation, in my opinion. "The Hope" by Herman Wouk I trashed because it sounded so good and he is a well-respected author but...it sucked. I also panned "Gunman's Rhapsody" by Robert Parker - I love 9/10 of his books but this one was awful and I was disappointed.

Basically, if it has a good reputation, it had better live up to it. Perhaps I will print off your beginnings of a commentary and look at it while I go along.

By way of a preview, forthcoming reviews are "Vendetta Defense" by Lisa Scottoline and "Day of the Triffids" by ? I can't remember his name but it is a classic sci-fi novel of the 1950s. I'm about halfway done w/it and its pretty good so far...

So, what do you think of Young Frankenstein?

Also, what's up w/the green on that one page linked to the post "Something I said about Frankenstein..." It makes you read in a hurry, that's for sure.
