Subject: Doctor Who: Storm Warning

Storm Warning is the first 8th Doctor audio adventure, and so the first story to take place in "Season 27." Because at the end of the televised movie (which had a good presentation of the Doctor, but a terrible story) the Doctor had no companion, the story starts off with the Doctor on his own. There are some amusing aspects to the 8th Doctor's presentation, but as some others had noticed, the Doctor still needs to interact with others, and it is only when the Doctor lands on the doomed airship that the story begins to develop.

This is the story where he meets Charlie, who was fated to die on the airship, when it crashes, and yet by the end of the story he saves her life, and takes her aboard the TARDIS as his new companion, changing history with drastic effects on the timelines.

The story itself is a very high quality story. It is a mix between historical fiction and science fiction.. taking place in the first half of the 20th century, when the English and Germans were experimenting with airships, the Doctor discovers the airship he is on is one that history records was lost in a storm, and while on it, finds out that there is a secret british plot involved with the airship, where it meets up with a "UFO" in the sky to allow a hidden passanger to return to its ship.. and when that happens, 1/2 through the story, then the second half of the story takes place, where the Doctor learns of the plans of the aliens, which is not really the typical "lets invade earth" plan that one might expect with aliens from Doctor Who.

The story has some weaknesses, but it was a very good and refreshing story. I've only listened to three of the 8th Doctor stories, and 2 of them I have been highly impressed with, and the third I thought was just average (but with a good performance by Paul). I have two more on order which should get here this week, including the 8th Doctor's first meeting with the Brigadier (not sure if they will plan to do more) called Minuet in Hell (from what I tell, the Doctor loses his memory, and someone else is claiming to be the Doctor). The other one is The Chimes of Midnight, which I have heard very good reviews of, and it seems to be the 8th Doctor's "Ghostlight" although I don't think with the same story as much as just atmosphere.

I give the story a solid B on my first listening to it, but I want to re-listen when I am less distracted, since I think it will get a B+.

I order the CD's here: http://www.whona.com/index.html?http&&&www.whona.com/main.html and I think you can order what you want and send them a check, so I do not think you need a credit card.
