I think if we want to get at the heart of it, we need to leave such concepts as "sinful" and "God" behind us. Man, if we can agree, has only his nature. Whether it is sinful or not is really of no concern and has no bearing on the argument. The question was not whether power corrupts. It was not about whether Bush was power hungry. He already has the power. The question is, does power demand to be used? Is there some sort of relationship between destructive and constructive forces in the universe and therefore within man also?

I would answer that violence and use of violent power is simply inherent in all creatures. In man it may tend to be inflated because he is also one of the greatest creators on the face of the earth. Every creation requires destruction and every destruction is a kind of creation. Therefore, I posit the assumption that power, being a tool, can be used for creation and destruction, and if it is used for one, it will most certainly be used, at some juncture, for the other.
