What is that saying about those not knowing history being doomed to repeat it?

Chamberlain was the british Prime Minister who made deals with Hitler, let him re-arm (in violation of the treaty ending WWI) and tried to appease Hitler by giving him the Sudetenland and Austria. Along the way, Hitler took the rest of Czechoslovakia (The Sudetenland and Czechoslovakia were a matched set don't you know?!) and Chamberlain made excuses for him - Hitler means us no harm, how would you feel if your country was treated as badly as Germany, he only wants this one little thing, etc.

Chamberlain's famous quote, right before Germany invaded Poland was that we would have, "Peace in our time!" as he got off a plane as he returned from a visit with Hitler.

To finish the lesson, Chamberlin's main political rival was Churchill who is famous for having to say that Britain would defend itself to the death against the German onslaught that Chamberlain could have stopped by saying the Brits would fight in the air, on the beaches, in the streets, etc. Damn good thing they did, too.
