So - you are adopting a position more extreme than Bush's? You've admitted oil is a necessity - this man has it. We are ruthless ourselves, according to you. We certainly have the power. Nuke 'em, call it a night and decontaminate the oil later on.

You asked how I would handle it. I told you. If I had the power, I'd squash him like a bug. End of problem. We are ruthless, and there really is no getting around it! Look at our behaviour!

On good and evil - I've been wondering this for a while. for someone who denies their existance - what is the attraction with LOTR and Star Wars - they are essentially dramas of good vs. evil. Is it just the special effects?

These two epics are not really about good and evil at all. They are about rising up in the face of oppressive forces. (I will not deny that we label such forces as evil, but the fact remains is that they are simply forces, just like any other forces that can be accepted or rebelled against.) In many ways Star Wars and LOTR represent man's struggle to fight the oppressive forces of the modern world; technology, labor force slavery, and despoilment of the earth.

The man who benefits from raping the land does not see it as evil, does he? Yet, what of those who suffer from it?

Do you think it is any wonder that the United States of America is perceived as the Evil Empire by most of the weaker nations in the world, as was Rome? Perception, perception, perception...

Carl Jung gives the most telling instance of perception of good and evil in this tale:

An African tribal chieftain was asked once: What is your definition of good and evil? The Chief answered: "When I steal my enemies wives, this is good. When he steals my wives, this is evil."

Perception, perception, perception...
