Two, as you have agreed, police do not prevent crime. Only strong moral foundations prevent crime.

Strong moral foundations do prevent crime - but so do the police. Some people do not act of their inclinations do to fear of reprisal or punishment. Off-duty police officers who work at banks do prevent that bank from being robbed.

A milder example: Personally, I, like all Darlages, am a lead-foot driver. I break the speed limit all the way to work (33 mile drive) every day, except in the town of Bainbridge. There is a very active town police officer who STRICTLY enforces the 20 MPH speed limit. I obey that law very carefully for fear of a ticket and the fine. He (and the threat of the fine) prevents me from speeding.
