Subject: "We were soldiers"

I saw the Mel Gibson war movie. I love war movies and felt this one was pretty good. Not the best, but above average.
Mel did a wonderful job in this movie. The only problem was you did not get to know the other people under his comand very well. When they got shot, it did not really matter as much. Unlike "Saving Private Ryan" or "Glory" or even "Platoon". In those movies you got to know more of the soldiers so if they died, it was sad. In "We Were Soldiers", you only got to know 2 or 3 people. The others were just there to get shot.
This movie also tried to show the Vietnamese as people also and not just as "the bad guys", which I felt they did a good job at.
It was also sad watching as the telegrams got delivered to the wives of the soldiers who died.
Over all, it was good and Mel Gibson did a great job. It was mainly about one battle and was based on a true story. I would give it 7 swords out of 10.
