Since it is obvious that these debates are turning into insult fests and punching arenas, I shall stop talking about bloody religion. These debates go nowhere. I am, perhaps, the most guilty of letting my anger get the better of me. Can we not think of something else to talk about? What does anyone hope to gain from it? All it does is raise my blood pressure, and I will tell you why.
From my standpoint, and the standpoint of most non-Christians, Christianity is a harmful religion that teaches us to revile ourselves. Those who cannot see this, are likely the most brain-washed of the bunch. Arguing with these people is like trying to point out the nature of water to a salmon. They can't see how ridiculous their beliefs are because they can't see them and they need them to survive.
I become angry because I can't stand seeing people choose between two simple options: 1.)The Universe is glorious and we are glorious also. 2.)The Universe is a back drop for our sinful and miserable existence.
I really must apologize for the insults. It is normally not in my style. These debates have clearly gotten the better of me, so with some honor left to me, I shall abandon the field.
