There were a gnostic persian group, pre-Islam. Because they were persian influenced and background, they have a lot of connections with Zoroastrianism (which should not be surprising since they were dualists), but also, they did have influence in the development of Islamic beliefs.
They are often considered the last of the major gnostic christian groups, and I think, there is a debate (as with many gnostic groups)if they should be considered "gnostic christian" or if they were too independent in thought.
