Subject: Beethoven under Sun Light

Harry Nielsen sang a song called "Maybe"... and I can recall certain lyrics that said "happiness is easier for some"....however in listening to Pf's "My Beethoven" I think the "delight" in the song is the maybe of the song.....The maybe of whether or not Beethoven could hear the music and know the happiness that he brought to his audience and those who listened to his music..I think Phil's beautiful song about this composer spells out clearly that although there will always be a maybe...a maybe that Beethoven could hear his music outside his head....I think this song tells the story of a man who could hear everything inside and didn't need to hear the dischord of the outside world....Inside his head was all the music and harmony that he needed despite his inner struggle as exemplified in Phil's lyrics in the beginning of the song..."One hand holds a candle and the other a knife" Beethoven seemed to carve out the light he knew existed in this world... Maybe that is the lesson of this most wonderful song written by Phil....that we should all carve out the light and happiness in and of this world and that we need not the outside to be happy within....more than just a beautiful exposition on Beethoven...this song has a spiritual truth that stays with me every day long after the notes have ended...
I know, I know..I swear...
