Subject: Home-made stuff

Just a thought on a cold morning when I am home sick.
Am I an anomaly? I make as many things home-made as I can just 'cause I like them better. I don't have more time than others do. I am not more talented than they are. I just like to do it.I know others don't enjoy cooking (and feel sorry for them)but a lot of this isn't really even "cooking".
What started me thinking this way was one of the "girls" I work with. I had made pimento cheese and took it in a sandwich for lunch one day. One of the "girls" said "I didn't know you could make pimento cheese at home". I know my shock registered on my face. I have only rarely bought pimento cheese. I almost always make it, along w/ tuna salad, ham salad, chicken salad, egg salad, boiled custard, salad dressings, gravy, scratch cakes, etc. I just can't help but wonder if the "art" of home-made items is getting lost. Like bread making almost did. Thank goodness that has been revived, even though I can't manage it myself. I can make almost anything else you want to eat; but bread and rolls are beyond me without my bread machine, of course. But others have brought the techniques back and it is very popular now. What do you all think?
