I stood by the bay
at the edge of a rugged cliff
the wind, soft and swift
caressed my wet and ruddy cheek
like an old forgotten lover

I stood against the jagged edge
swaying back and forth
eyes closed
sensing the waves
the summer murmur of the sea
as it spalshed against the rocky wall

The sweet sound began to slide
as the music of the water played
my heart sank for memories,forgotten
come back to haunt my weary heart

Pulsing, pulling
like strings from a harp
memories, so long ago
of a lifetime,when a sailor stood
at this very edge and wept,
forsaking an instant of dispair
to leave those he loved
for a greater love...the sea
