Subject: they weren't losers
In reply to: Blade 's message, "Since where was it cool to be a loser" on 23:42:33 06/13/03 Fri

they just weren't the stereotypical popular kids--just as Buffy wasn't---as she's said before on the show--she once was, she was homecoming queen and all that, but once she was called I think she realized there were more important things in life than who's wearing what and who's doing who. And now she was "different"--she was unique--she didn't fit in with just any clique anymore. I think Joss was just trying to show that regular kids have a lot more going on than one might initially think--he did, afterall, say that he modeled Xander after himself. And I adore both of them--Xander was insecure, goofy, funny, and just real--I knew guys like him in high school---and he had a good heart. Willow was brainy and always eager to help and she loved her friends. There is nothing lame about either of them. They befriended Buffy and helped her fight the good fight. Demons and vamps aside--it was actaully quite a realistic take on highschool, the main characters are not the jocks and cheerleaders --they don't get make overs and suddenly become popular--they're just themselves. It was their relationship with one another that made them cool (at least to themselves) not how everyone else saw them.
