There have been so many interesting conversations going on here, i'm really sorry i didn't come to the board as soon as i got home. I was in the interesting position of being in a media blackout when the war began, I was canoeing on the Rio Grand river and had no cantact with the outside world. We found out the war had started when we got off the river. I spent the next 4 days catching up on what was happening. I've always wonderes what it would be like to have been completly out of contact on September 11, now I have an inckling of what it was like, even though I knew this would come eventually. (Being a politics minor, I studied the conflict a lot before I left.)

The analogy of Buffy and Glory is an nteresting one, although I say there need to be a few amendments to it to make it more accurate.
First, Buffy would have to have supported Glory in her rise to power in her own dimension, knowing full well that she was torturing the inhabitants of that dimention.
Second, Buffy would have had to sold Glory the tools that she used to torture the inhabitants of her dimention.
Third, Glory would have had to have checked with Tara before attempting to invade a small ajasent demesion, and Tara, not knowing how to deal with that situation, would hem and haw and give tacit approval.
Buffy would then talk about how the evil Glory, whom she had been supporting a few weeks before, was the next Master, and was worst then the First. People who pointed out the discrepency would be called unpatriotic or in leuge with Glory.
After containing Glory into her own dimention, Buffy and Willow would impose sanctions on Glory's demention, killing between 1 and 2 million inhabitants from starvation, dirty water, lack of medicine and depleated uranium left there from the fight. Half a million children would die, at a rate of 5,000 a month.
After the mayor attacked Sunnydale, Buffy would try to draw a connection between him and Glory, saying Glory gave him his power. The only provable connection would be that both had the letters "o" and "y" in their name.
Buffy would go to the scooby gang, saying that they must all atack glory. Xander would be sent in to look for the weapons glory supposedly had. The fact that he could not find them would be offered as proof that she had them.
Buffy would then attack Glory's demention, saying that the inhabitants there would welcome them, dispite the fact that buffy had shown absolutly no concern for them whatsoever in the past. Buffy would act suprised when she was not greated with open arms everywhere she went.


I hope my little rant has provided a bit of entertainment, and perhaps made some of you think about what is going on. I agree that Saddam is not a nice guy. I also happen to think the Unioted States should not sell weapons of mass distruction to people like that. Before Saddam invaded Kuwait the US's policy tords him was "yes he's a bastard, but he's OUR bastard."
