Subject: Angel IS great for the reasons Buffy WAS great

The main selling point of Angel is that the storyline is pretty riveting. Buffy was such a great show because of the great juxtaposition of a regular high school girl who also was a vampire slayer. It was funny, witty, and didn't take itself too seriously. The problem is, Buffy graduated, and the show totally lost direction. She became a full-time vampire slayer, and the storyline became pedantic, and obviously they tried to revive the past by bringing Buffy back to high school.

Angel started out with a great story line and similar juxtaposition: a vampire who doesn't want human contact called to be a hero on their behalf. He lives and interacts among them, but isn't one of them. The characters are well written and fresh, and we actually care about them! Plus, there is great continuity, and as I said before, each show is really well written and acted.
Wow, I am totally rambling now.
