Thought I would share this story to show how calous and stupid some people can be.
About a month ago, I was just about to jump in the car and travel down to Canberra To watch the Canberra Royal (I forgot to enter!) when I got a phone call from a very upset friend who has a pup from my first litter last April. Neo(RR) lives with his mate Zeke (Hungarian Visla) and it seemed at the time that the day before (Thursday) they had decided to take themselves for a walk by digging under the back fence and into the neighbours yard. This person (if I can call him that) told Shane when he got home that he had taken them back around to shane's front yard and left them there, because if was only about half and hour before Shane was due to arrive home. Needless to say neither dog could be found and Shane started to search the streets, walking down to the Neapen river were the dogs usually go for their walks. He door knocked untill 10pm, while his distressed and 6mths pregnant wife Ann stayed home and printed out some brochures to put up in the morning. Neither got any sleep that night, and when they called all the local vets, pounds and Animal shelters the next morning with no luck, they called me deperate to know what else they could do. Apart from continuing to call the pound and shelters and walking the streets, there was little else they could do. After a few phone calls I jumped in my car and drove around to their house to see if I could help, only to find no-one home. I called shane on this mobile to hear that Hawkesbury pound had both dogs dropped off about a hour before by a caring citizen who had seen both dogs being pushed out the back of a van at the other end of Penrith the night before. The council run pound took this seriously and asked Shane to meet them at the council building, were they would reunite him with Neo and Zeke and investigate the matter. The wittness had the number plate and could describe the make of the van. It turned out to be the neighbour who said he had taken the dogs back. He actually just put them in this van and dumped them about 10 mins drive away. The best part about this story is that the council have turned the matter over the the local police, and this idiot has now been charged with amongst other things, theft! I also understand that the RSPCA was looking into it to see if they too can charge him with anything. This guys problem? Aparently he hates dogs, but his stupidity just cost him dearly, because he's going pay were it will hurt the most with some big fines, and
most of the neighours no longer speak to him. I wonder if he's realised that it just wasn't worth it.
