I was devastated to hear this morning that one of Australia's most prominent sires and a dog which had such a major impact on the breed in this country, has passed away. With Patrice's permission, I have copied her email:

""Well it certainly is a sad day, our family has had to make the unenviable decision today to have 'Goose' put to sleep. He has a slipped disk which has paralysed him this has been caused when Goose was attacked by an irate house member where Jesse lived, Jesse was not home at the time and this person - and I use that term loosely - smashed Goose across the back with a Farriers rasp - for those of you who are unfamiliar with a Farriers rasp is, it is a solid steel rasp app 40cm long and 5cm wide with a typical deep file edge either side, used to rasp off excess on horses hooves. Goose did not appear to have any immediate signs of injury, the vet has since confirmed that the initial slip all be it slight has now moved and has caused the paralysis. He will now have a complaint made against him to the RSPCA and will face charges. Our family will not rest until he is dealt with in the manner he deserves. To Barbara and Alan all I can say is thank you for a wonderful companion who did not deserve to pass on like this.""

For me, Goose has had an impact in many ways to me and my kennels, being the chosen sire of my litter to Lewa in the continuation of our kennels. He is the father of Karma, Zawadi Call It Destiny, who is so much like her father in many ways and grandpa of my boy Boags, Zawadi Your Shout.

I remember when he came to us for his mating - what a gentleman he was. His nature and personality were superb and so gentle and I will never forget the love and adoration he showed for Jess, Patrice's daughter.

Rest in peace dear Goosey boy - and to Jess and Patrice, our hearts and thoughts are with you at this time....
