Just a warning for those of you buying Keller shells and planning to stain them. Make sure you ask your supplier for drums with consistant grains and a tight outside seam. I have received drums with wide seems and rough spots on the grain. A wide seam will contain glue, and often times will splash a bit toward the outside of the seam. In all the places the glue exists stain will not take and will create an inconsistant coverage. Sometimes sanding will help, but not always. It is hard to get a perfect shell, but most of my suppliers will send the best they can find, if you tell them the drums will be stained.
