Angie Fenimore wrote a book called BEYOND THE DARKNESS. She attempted suicide and experienced a negative NDE (near death experience). Brief info can br found here: Angie Fenimore

Also, last night on CROSSING OVER w/ JOHN EDWARD (a show on the SCI-FI channel where he claims to be able to communicate with the earth-deceased), he stated that not all suicides result in punishment from the "other side". Just something to think about.

I once lived in a house that was haunted by a young girl who commited suicide after her boyfriend left her. I actually saw and heard this young girl myself

My Wife committed suicide , and I have had some contact with her ghost.

My love died in April from suicide. I am in constant contact with him, he even surprised me by showing up for my birthday. (have a picture)

Suicide can be said to be a call for help. If the person actually succeeds, it might be a suprise/shock to them (or their ghost). The ghost could still be looking for that help, could be afraid to move on because of being punished for taking their own lives,or they may not realize that they are dead.

Just a few thoughts.

There is a haunted creamery thats now a house, and an abandoned farm that each have "spirits" from suicides influencing the living. The people living in the "creamery" discovered the suicide influence via a spiritual medium they brought in to try to exocise the problems. The "farm" was abandoned after the ghost of the grandfather started appearing. He had hung himself over the barn door. A month later he could be seen walking from the barn to the farmhouse. He would upset the milk truck driver with his apearing because (A). the driver knew him very well when he was alive(B)His ghostly image looked as real and "solid" as when he had been alive!, then he would just "dissappear!", I was told this when I asked about the farm as I could see it about 2 miles away from where I was living at the time, and I knew that there was no road to get to it anymore, the person telling me the acount was a relative of those I mentioned.
