Subject: Strange noises

For the past six months, there has been a strange occurence going on in my house. When I am downstairs, I hear footsteps and doors opening and closing upstairs although no one else is home. On occasion, my dog has responded to this also. I have also heard similar noises when about to take a shower but whenever I investigate, nothing has been moved or is out of the ordinary. It has recently been more frequent and is beginning to irritate me. It seems to happen mostly when I am home alone, although on one occasion, my wife was downstairs with me and she and the dog heard it also. I am not frightened by this but very curious as to what might be going on. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
