I'm not sure if I'm going about this correctly, but here goes my story. Looking back, it is hard to know when all of this really got started, but my neuro and I suspect it was with a severe reaction to a wasp sting. It turns out that wasp venom contains the same neurotoxin as a coral snake. About 2 years after the sting, I started on venom shots to dull my sensitivity. Each shot made me sicker than the last, but my allergist assured me that he had searched the literature and found no complaints like mine. Each shot would put me flat on my back. I started refusing to go up in dosage and then I quit going back. Slowly, strange things began to happen. I fell going down stairs a couple of times, and I kept dropping my cigarette. I kept seeing bright colored flashes in my vision and I developed a numb spot in the center of my chin. I was freezing all of the time and my temperature was all over the place. Went in to have my thyroid checked--everything fine--but I was still getting sicker. I lost the ability to eat (I had dry heaves constantly) and I started to hurt any where and everywhere. I lost my job (my boss told me that I was too sick to work). Man could I teach a class in denial. I had no fat left on my body and I literally could not get out of bed by myself. I went from gastroenterologist to urologist and then to a rheumotologist. He put me on prednisone, so every couple of hours I felt like a real person again. I got huge and I was needing more and more steroid. This doctor gave me the zebra label and sent me to a neuro. I'm still with him today. I have peripheral neuropathy, extreme hyper-reflexes, tremors that become much worse under stress or excitement. I have the muscle jumps, and horrible spasms, numbness, pins and needles and almost knife-like pains. I can write about half a page before my hand-writing becomes illegible. I must walk with a cane, and then o

I'm a 42 yr. old wife and mother of two teens. It's been three years since I've been able to work. I try to keep a good attitude, but it's tough some days. Now if I can just figure out where I'm supposed to go next, I'll see you around.
