Subject: Why 'Heinrich'?

In his book 'Vom U-Boot zur Kanzel', Martin Niemoeller mentions how pleased he was to find that the captain of his biat kept alive the tradition of addressing the first watch officer as 'Heinrich' (or Henry if you prefer).
Tempting thought it is to suggest a popular etymology with Prince Heinrich of Prussia, does anybody know how this came about?
