Holiday Giving -- Jan Sproul, 09:01:01 11/26/02 Tue
Hi everyone, I don't know how many people are still reading this but it impacts just one person, we will all be in a better world.
Please join the La Grande DHS/CHS staff in donating goods to your local food bank. Each year, your local good bank puts out holiday baskets for those in need. I have had the dubious honor of receiving these baskets in the past as have others in our staff. We all agreed that if it hadn't been for these baskets, the holidays would have been bleak and hungry for our families. When you fill your basket at the grocery store, please remember those who are much less fortunate than you. Buy an extra can of fruit or vegetables or an extra box of Kleenex or aluminum foil and donate it to your local food bank. I encourage you to start a holiday basket drive in your local branch. Contact your local food bank and see what they need. Print out the list and send it to everyone in your area asking them to participate in your venture. Deliver the donated items to the food bank at least a week before the baskets are to be delivered. Then set back and feel very good about the difference you have made in the life of those less fortunate. Listed below is a suggested list of items that you can donate.

Self Sufficiency SDA Staff Meeting -- Brian Stauff, 13:34:50 09/24/02 Tue
I wish to express sincere thanks to all Self Sufficiency Staff and SDA 13 for collectively pulling off a smashingly successful all SSP SDA Staff meeting with WESTERN BBQ Potluck Lunch at the Cove Ascension School Kimsey Commons last week 9/18/02.
I'll stop short of calling it a spiritual experience, though it was close! Guest Speakers in the AM included TANF, FOODSTAMPS and JOBS Gurus from CAF - Jeff Stell, Patrick Ring and Phil Laymon. [Special appearances by
Capt. TANF and Miss Congeniality brightened the day as well!].
Also, Sally Kosey and Debbie from Child Support Enforcement and the Umatilla Reservation gave top notch afternoon performances. And, we were fortunate to have SDA 13 CHS Staff there, including Patti Allen, Linda Lehman and Sunni York. We are anxious to start planning our next meeting in the near future, with topics related to common case interests and all CHS Staff invited, as usual. Again ..
my deepest thanks to SDA 13 Staff! Brian
