History explains things one way, yet the book, Song of Roland, has a different point of view, perhaps fictional, perhaps not...yet the book portrays Charlemagne as a 200-year-old-man that is still in almost perfect health and still doing battles. It is impossible for a man to like that long, so obviously, the book gives off exaggeration. History books say that Charlemagne died at the age of 72 or so, which is much more reasonable.
