Subject: Medical Quackery

Recently it was brought to tho attention of the Government that Chelation Therapy was being performed on patients, by a local doctor. This doctor told me that the government told him to have all of his patients sign informed consent forms in which they indicate that they had been informed about Chelation Therapy and it�s use in treating people with arterial plaque accumulation problems. This doctor told me that Chelation therapy as performed in his practice was useful in removing free radicals from the body which could cause health problems. He cited no studies to verify his claims, and as far as I can determine he will continue to give Chelation Therapy treatments to patients for that reason.
The doctor should have been required by the government to submit the data from scientific studies which supported his claims. Only then should he be legally able to administer Chelation Therapy for any given ailment. If what I was told by this doctor is true the Government has not stopped this bogus medical treatment. It is now being used for a different reason, again without any scientific proof that it does what it claims to.
