There is nothing wrong with having the boxing commission oversee MMA. The states where it has taken off (Nevada and New Jersey) have their boxing commissions oversee it.

I agree the boxing commission didnt do a thing to aid boxing, but NC has NEVER been a boxing state anyway, the interest was never here, and most likely never will be.

I do not think the boxing commission or its people have any desire to "screw" MMA. They just did not understand it and most folks have a little fear about what thye dont understand. Fact is for now they cant not be against MMA as it is the law plain and simple. Given an oppurtunity I think it will work out, at least to the level there could be some shows with rules similar to the amatuer level shows in Va, which would be a HUGE step forward.

I for one dont care if the comissioner wants MMA because it is a money maker. Fact is that is the only thing that will promote change, money or the oppurtunity to make it. The State will be for anything they stand to gain from. The big hinge here will be if and when the commission takes on allowing and overseeing MMA who they use as consultants and what framework for rules and regs they use. Luckily we have a few commissions who oversee MMA for the NC comm. to draw a framework from.

The interest in MMA here is strong and there really isnt much if anything the commission could do to kill MMA once they allow it to happen. The only folks who could screw it up then would be the promoters and competitors, or in other words...us.

Brandon is correct. We have to present as an organization and a good start is to contact Bill Fasions office and ge thim to engage us so that we can piggy back on the bill that he has out there. That or we need to just get the MMA law repealed for now.

If bill fasion don't engage us.
What would it take to get the "MMA law repealed"?

it would take a legislator willing to introduce that. We just need $$$ to get it done. If anyone knows any major business owners in this state who either have lobiest or contribute to campaigns it would really help.
